Adhering to our commitment to carry out corporate social responsibility actions with a significant footprint on society, Nobacco is now a proud supporter of the Civil Protection Volunteer Association of the Municipality of Penteli. Last August, when the whole country was watching the devastating fires in Attiki, Evia and Peloponnese, Nobacco announced the donation of all the profit of our e-shop, during the week of August 9 to 13, to cover shortages of necessary special firefighting equipment.
In consultation with the Civil Protection operations center of the Municipality of Penteli, the following were purchased:
The delivery and receipt of the equipment took place at a meeting of representatives of the company with the Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Penteli, Ms. Kosmopoulou Anastasia, the manager of the Civil Protection Operations Center of the Municipality of Penteli and manager of volunteer firefighters Ms. Kelly Diakomanoli, in the presence of members of the Civil Protection Volunteers of the Municipality of Penteli.
The collaboration of NOBACCO doesn’t stop at this offer. A volunteer group has already been set up with company employees who will be trained by specialized volunteers of the Civil Protection Volunteers of the Municipality of Penteli in subjects such as forest fire fighting, first aid provision and the use of fire extinguishers. In this context, any employee who wishes, will be able to participate in the operational planning of the Civil Protection Volunteer Corps of Penteli when the need arises, according to the updates of the General Secretariat of Civil Protection (prevention and response to extreme weather events, forest fires, floods, earthquakes, etc.). NOBACCO volunteers will also participate in actions for the deforestation and cleaning of forest areas of Mount Pentelikon.
“The devastation of last summer's fires shocked us, and we felt the need to contribute in our own way to strengthening local government forest protection and firefighting. In the face of the Civil Protection volunteers of the Municipality of Penteli, we thank and honor all the unseen, the unknown heroes who fought the flames, who choose every time to be there for the safety and protection of their fellow human beings. We are happy that this initiative will continue, through the activity of our own people in voluntary civil protection", said Mr. Alexandros Markopoulos, Co-Founder of NOBACCO.
"We are happy and excited to welcome the NOBACCO company to the family of Volunteers of our Municipality, which provided us with free firefighting equipment and PPE. This gesture demonstrates the sensitivity, social skills and responsibility of the company's management and Mr. Alexandros Markopoulos. We sincerely thank you", said Ms. Anastasia Kosmopoulou, Deputy Mayor & Civil Protection of the Municipality of Penteli.
